Info

Anchor is a mental wellness app designed to help users manage stress, build emotional awareness, and create moments of calm in their daily lives. The goal of this project was to design an experience that feels grounding, intuitive, and emotionally supportive without overwhelming the user. Many existing mental health apps feel either too clinical or too complex, making it difficult for users to stay consistent. Interfaces are often cluttered, content feels impersonal, and there is little emotional connection, which ultimately leads to low engagement.

Anchor addresses this by focusing on simplicity and meaningful interactions. Instead of long, demanding sessions, the app encourages small, consistent habits through quick daily check ins, guided breathing exercises, and personalized calming content. The experience is designed to reduce friction and cognitive load, allowing users to engage with the app effortlessly.

As the UX UI Designer, I was responsible for the full design process, including user research, wireframing, prototyping, and developing the visual design system. Through research and analysis of existing wellness apps, I discovered that users do not want more features, they want less stress while using the app itself. This insight became the foundation of the design approach.

The concept of anchoring emotions guided the ideation phase, focusing on creating a sense of stability during moments of stress. Wireframes were built with an emphasis on fast onboarding, minimal navigation, and clear user flows. The visual design uses soft color palettes, generous spacing, and subtle motion to create a calm and welcoming environment. Every element was intentionally designed to feel like a safe space rather than a productivity tool.

The final product includes features such as quick emotional check ins, guided grounding exercises, and a personalized experience that adapts to user behavior. The interface remains minimal and distraction free, ensuring that users can complete tasks quickly and without confusion. Throughout prototyping and testing, the focus remained on making interactions feel effortless and maintaining a consistent, calming experience.

Anchor demonstrates how thoughtful UX design can transform mental wellness tools into experiences that users genuinely connect with. This project highlights my ability to combine user centered thinking with clean, modern design to solve real world problems. It also reinforced the importance of designing not just for usability, but for emotion, showing how even small design decisions can significantly impact how a user feels.
